I’m willing to bet you’re familiar with the tight feeling in your hip area (I must not be the only rider hoping I’d have a biiiit more softness in my hips and in my seat). When feeling stiff and tight in the hip area, stretching is not the only thing we should do as riders. We put together everything you need to get rid off stiff hips.
“But only stretching your hamstrings is not going to make magic happen and help you to really feel the change in the saddle.“
Having tight hamstrings and glute muscles will lock your hips and make it difficult to have the leg long and relaxed around the horse. It also makes it harder for the horse to move engaged through the back muscles because you are not able to follow the movement softly with your seat.
But only stretching your hamstrings is not going to make magic happen and help you to really feel the change in the saddle.
Our hips neeeeeed movement outside the saddle, too. Just sitting in the saddle and riding is a highway to feeling stiff in the hip area and we are not far from low back pains and knee problems.
The magic is in the rotations: unlocking your hips rotations will make your hip problems history. Your hip mobility routine should always include movements opening up your hip rotations (also a lazy hack: opening up rotations helps also extension and flexion)
The problem? Doing it once in your lifetime is not going to cut it. Riding can be seen in your body and to balance out the stiffness effect riding easily has on our hips, we need weekly routines to keep those hips, you know, not tight and locked.
And the action? We saved you the trouble of thinking about what to do and planned a workout that has ALL the magic you need for your hips.
And yes, it’s free. Just click here and you travel safely to our Youtube channel (there’s more freebies, too).
